What is TIROMEL and what is it used for?


TIROMEL is presented in blister packs of 100 tablets, with a white flat face and a notch in the middle.

TIROMEL is used in every case where thyroid hormone should be given. It is used in the treatment of mild, moderate or severe thyroid hormone deficiency, simple goiter and diseases related to thyroid hormone deficiency.

It is also used in the application of the suppression test, which is used to distinguish thyroid hormone deficiency from other thyroid diseases.

How is TIROMEL used?

It is recommended to take TIROMEL once a day. The dosage of thyroid hormones is determined by the reason for use, and the dosage should be individualized for each patient according to treatment response and laboratory findings.

Special use cases

Kidney/Liver failure:

There is no warning regarding the use of TIROMEL in kidney/liver diseases.

If you have the impression that the effect of TIROMEL is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

If you use more TIROMEL than you should

In case of overdose, headache, irritability, sweating, nervousness, acceleration of heartbeat, increased bowel movements and menstrual irregularities may occur. Chest pain and heart failure may develop or worsen. For the treatment of overdose, the dose should be reduced or the drug should be temporarily discontinued if symptoms occur.

If you have used more than you should use from TIROMEL, talk to a doctor or pharmacist.

If you forget to use TIROMEL

Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten doses.

Effects that may occur when treatment with TIROMEL is terminated

There is no information on any effect when treatment with TIROMEL is terminated.

What are the possible side effects?

Like all medicines, there may be side effects in people who are sensitive to the substances contained in TIROMEL.

If any of the following occur, stop using TIROMEL and IMMEDIATELY inform your doctor or go to the nearest hospital emergency department:

• Difficulty in breathing,

• rapid breathing,

• chest pain,

• acceleration of the heartbeat,

• swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat,

• sudden drop in blood pressure,

• widespread and severe redness, itching, hives (urticaria),

These are all very serious side effects.

If you have any of these, you have a serious allergy to TIROMEL. You may need emergency medical attention or hospitalization.

If you notice any of the following, tell your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital emergency department:

Fever, headache, dizziness, feeling ill, involuntary muscle spasm

These are all serious side effects. Emergency medical attention may be required.

Serious side effects are very rare.

Tell your doctor if you notice any of the following:

• Thyroid hormone increase - palpitations, hot flashes, sweating, hair loss, irritability, intolerance to heat,

• decrease in growth hormone - short stature, growth retardation,

• osteoporosis - frequent fractures after menopause, bone pain,

• high blood pressure

These are mild side effects of TIROMEL.
