Instructions for proper use and dose/frequency of administration

Always use EUTHYROX as directed by your doctor. When you are unsure, consult your doctor.

Your doctor will determine the most appropriate dose for you based on the results of examinations and laboratory tests. Treatment is usually started at a low dose and increased every 2 to 4 weeks until the full dose is reached. In the first weeks of treatment, you need to have a number of laboratory tests to adjust the dose.
Treatment Time

The duration of treatment depends on the situation in which you are using EUTHYROX. Therefore, consult your doctor for how long you should use it. Usually, the treatment of patients continues for life.

Application route and method

EUTHYROX is an oral medication. It is taken in the morning (at least half an hour before breakfast) on an empty stomach, preferably with some liquid (eg half a glass of water).
• Different age groups:

Use in children

If your baby is congenitally hypothyroid, your doctor may want you to start a higher dose as rapid replacement is important. The recommended starting dose is 10 to 15 micrograms per kg body weight for the first 3 months. Next, your doctor will adjust the dose for your child. Infants are given a single dose at least half an hour before their first meal of the day. The tablets are crushed just before administration, mixed with some water and given with some liquid. The mixture should always be used immediately after preparation.
Use in the elderly

Particular care should be exercised when initiating therapy with thyroid hormones in elderly patients, initiating therapy at a low dose (e.g. 12.5 micrograms/day) and slowly increasing the dose with monitoring of thyroid hormones, with longer intervals and more frequent thyroid hormone level control (e.g., 2 weeks dose increase of 12.5 micrograms/day). micrograms/day).

However, it should be kept in mind that a dose below the ideal dose cannot fully restore the TSH level.
Special use cases

The usual dose range is given in the table above. A lower dose of EUTHYROX may be sufficient individually if any of the following conditions are present;

If you are an elderly patient,

If you have heart disease problems
